This weekend I'm flying to Madrid for a workshop and concert. I always take my traditional instrument and my paper didgeridoo to these occasions. They are my favourite instruments and both complement each other in both activities. The traditional shows the the origins if the didgeridoo and the other shows how far we can go with this new technique of making paper didgeridoos.
Problem: both are two special to take the risk of getting them broken on the flight.
Solution: I found a fishing rod bag that is basically a PVC pipe inside protective tissue. This bag protects the instruments and I can still take my cloths inside so I don't have to take extra luggage.
But the bag has a problem: there is no shoulder strap and it's quite complicated to carry it around. That morning I had a great idea about how to put a strap in a very easy way.
You just need two hose clamps and an adjustable strap (this one has been lying around for a long time).
The strap will be used to protect the vice in the hose clamp and it will hold itself.
Make sure to make it big enough to be usable at the shoulder.
There it is, in less than 30 minutes you get a brand new bag that is much easy to carry around and is also a flightcase for your instruments.
I found this so simple, cheap and easy to do that I had to share, even if it seems so obvious!
Now, have a nice flight!
